Lops & Quilly

Lops & Quilly is a show that possessed everyone involved in making it. I had been working on Radio San Lazaro for close to a year at this point, and the idea for Lops & Quilly overtook me. I wrote the first six episodes in the week between submitting Monsters of Bureaucracy and its airing on Podcast Jam. Within a month, Cozy AF had casting calls up, and we found our initial voice actors for the project. We got to recording a week after, and the chemistry was cracked. Everyone became their characters and roles, and the show just got amazing momentum. The whole time I kept asking the team, “Is this too much work?” and they’d all just be so excited to do the next episode.That’s when Sparrow started having the visions. It wasn’t just a show anymore. It was real. She WAS Lops. And then it spread to Zeke. Then Rae. Quinn stayed safe, but that’s because she’s a system which granted her powers against possession. Lops & Quilly became us. We ascended. We turned into something so beyond audio fiction. It became audio memories. Audio reality. Audio life. We needed to finish the first season no matter what, because if we lived in the show… we lived in real life.The story made too much sense… Two trans non-humans working together at a dead end job, seemingly destined to be together in a way that transcended platonic, romantic, sexual, or sensual relationships… something more: co-workers. The British Museum ship they protect, ignorance to the horrors that are seeded within the imperialistic shadows cast by a backwards society long past its expiration date, society as a constant encroachment on their lives. Dave.Yes! Yes! The show. Lops & Quilly. The lifestyle. Lops & Quilly. The light. The light. The light. The light. The light. The light. Lops. The light. The light. Quillty. The light. Six-hundred-twenty-one moments spread amongst a first season of thirteen episodes, numbers in numbers, evolving into something you couldn’t imagine. You try to, I see you try to imagine it, but you’re trying to explain a pig to someone who can’t even see a dog. You can only hear Lops & Quilly if your heart is pure and you let it happen. Any who are unworthy will hear noise where there is music, will hear fire where there is dirt, and will hear Will where Will will.Margaret Atwood foresaw this show long before anyone else did; she might be the chosen one in all of this but it’s too soon to tell. She needs time. You don’t, though. You’re ready. You started the journey when it happened yesterday. Remember the light? That’s where you started this, and it led you here to this moment. This show was quantum, waiting to be realized, and it was through your observation, your measurement, that this show was actualized. the Production

In the spring of 2026, Ani Rey participated in a Podcast Jam where she created a solo project titled Monsters of Bureaucracy. She was unable to wait the one week for it to be released, and so she decided work on something else in the meantime. Inspired heavily by Spikes Parker-Bennett's widely acclaimed series Hamuel Burger and the American Dream, and filled with a righteous desire to prove wrong every rule in Kc Wayland's book Bombs Always Beep, Ani Rey began writing funny little scripts of dialogue between a rabbit and a robot slacking off at work.She was not, at the time, aware of the Margaret Atwood quote.Ani Rey also enlisted her partner Haven mainly because she hates doing dialogue editing. They were happy to join the project.
Casting and recording took place that summer, and the pilot episode is scheduled to release on October 5.Lops & Quilly is the first paid project by Cozy AF, and is funded entirely out-of-pocket by its creators.

Ani Rey has spent her whole life doing a little bit of everything, which eventually has lead her into the producer role for Radio San Lazaro. With over a decade of background in broadcast, writing, design, music production, and more, she tends to show up everywhere in the production. Haven has been writing fiction since 2021, writing poetry since 2017, and doing audio production of one kind or another since 2012. Their debut audio drama was Clinical Space (currently ongoing), and they just can't stop themself from beginning new and more ambitious projects. With well over a decade's worth of performing experience, Zeke has lent their voice to many corners of the audio fiction space and beyond - appearing as Sweetie in Two Thousand and Late, Parak in At The Seam, and many others he can't talk about yet (teehee). She is involved with TTRPG design, and narrative writing as well as being a voice actor for "Drift". Lops & Quilly?

Short Answer:
Lops & Quilly is an experimental comedy series by Ani Rey about a bunny and bobot, who are security guards on the British Kingdom's future fleet of British Museum Ships, showcasing stolen artifacts from across the galaxy.They do not do their jobs.

Long Answer:
Space. A traversable nothingness of no real importance. What matters is the people within that space. Here that would be the anthropomorphic bunny creature Lops, and her dear non-binary quantum-computing co-worker Quilly. These are the titular duo of the show, and they will not change the universe in any meaningful way. They are security guards for the third starship in the British fleet of museum vessels -- a ship that travels the galaxy showcasing stolen artifacts of little to no cultural significance.Lops & Quilly is an exploration of audio fiction as a medium, structure in storytelling, and how hard it is to do a show as ethically as possible while still having fun (it’s really easy, actually). It's also a vent session on imperialism in its many forms: how it functions as a miserable backdrop to the lives of so many people while taking the foreground as the harsh antagonist for so many others.It’s not a show for everyone, but for that exact reason, I think its going to be someone’s favorite show, and that’s enough for me.
